Ghosts of Benghazi

Shockingly, the people who screwed up and left Americans to die in a Middle Eastern country in the midst of a chaotic civil war aren’t too happy when people remind them of that fact.

“The administration has a serious credibility issue with the American people due to the unanswered questions surrounding the terrorist attack in Benghazi almost a year ago,” (S.C. Representative Jeff) Duncan said.

Duncan’s line of questioning drew the angriest response of the hours-long hearing.

“We’re talking about people being killed by gas and you want to go talk about Benghazi and Fast and Furious,” Kerry replied. “We don’t deserve to drag this into yet another Benghazi discussion when the real issue here is whether or not the Congress is going to stand up for international norms.”

I think one of the international norms that Congress needs to stand up to is not abandoning the sovereign territory of your own embassy and leaving an ambassador to die at the hands of an angry mob. Answer that question first, Mr. Secretary, then we’ll talk about Syria.
