What Recovery?

Despite what the MSM and the Administration say, there isn’t much economic growth going on.

Latest example, this article on the fallacy of an economic recovery.

When you have lost Mother Jones, you have lost the Left.

Compare and contrast

Phil Robertson quotes the Bible in an interview with GQ and humbly emphasizes that it is God that judges man, not him.

He’s kicked off his own show, despite A&E’s history of forgiving controversial reality stars

Ethan Krupp, Obamacare’s pajama-clad poster boy, was accused of racism and anti-Semitism and proudly describes himself as a “liberal #%@!” who “is not a Democrat, but rather someone who combines political data and theory, extreme leftist views and sarcasm to win any argument while make the opponents feel terrible about themselves.”

One is made the object of ridicule for stating the tenets of his faith. One is rewarded with a plum job on the President’s political action committee.

Beam me up, Scotty. I’m tired of this planet.

The news is brought to you by the Democratic National Committee

If you were unfortunate enough to watch KPNX’s 6:00 news show yesterday, you would have been treated to one of the most blatantly pro-Democrat “stories” of the year running as their lead story. Apparently, according to CNN, 2013 won’t be known as the year that the IRS was used as a weapon of political chicanery or the year the NSA was outed as a bigger threat to Americans than our enemies overseas or even the year that Obamacare imploded and took the blue state model of government along with it.

No, the biggest story of the year, the question that’s on everyone’s lips, is the “Do-Nothing” congress” of 2013.

The video here is from another Gannett affiliate, but this was the story that led on 12 News at 6.

And to prove their point that Congress is a bunch of poopyheads that won’t do what the Presidents wants them to do, they bring out a Democrat, and Independent and… Olympia Snowe. This insured thereporters/activist had all relevant viewpoints in their story, from centre-left to hard left.

What, was John McCain not available?

This is how media bias happens: It’s not that there aren’t people out there who are upset that Congress hasn’t “done anything”, it’s just that one side of the story was told to the exclusion of all others. The big political story certainly isn’t a “do-nothing” Congress, according to NBC itself, the big stories are (in reverse order):

  1. The Obama administration’s coverup of the IRS and Benghazi scandals
  2. Gun control blocked in the Democratically-controlled Senate
  3. Über-liberal Bill De Blasio will be mayor of NYC
  4. Chris Christie’s re-election in New Jersey
  5. McAuliffe winning in Virginia
  6. Amnesty for illegal immigrants failing in the house
  7. Obama failing to control Syria’s WMD’s
  8. Snowden’s leaks about Obama’s NSA spying program
  9. The government shutdown
  10. Obamacare crashing and burning and taking most of U.S. health care insurance along with it

Of those ten, only three might (and I say might) have something to do with a “Do Nothing Congress”, the rest of those failures and and scandals can be laid solely at the feet of our current President.

But that wouldn’t fit the narrative.

Merry Christmas and have a Happy Boxing Day

See you in few days.

Here’s the Hallelujah Chorus from my all-time favorite recording of Messiah, Sir Neville Marriner’s lean, trim version performed in Dublin on the 250th anniversary of the first performance. The trumpet is… sublime.

You stay classy, Seattle

Remember, we’re the hate-filled mysgonists racist homphobes who pre-judge people by where they live. Liberal Democrats never, ever do that.

What, never? Well, hardly ever

A Washington state lawmaker said Sunday he was just engaging in some sports trash talk when he called the state of Arizona a “racist wasteland.”

Democratic Rep. Joe Fitzgibbon made his harsh comment on Twitter after the Seattle Seahawks’ loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Fitzgibbon later deleted his message and said in an interview that people were taking his trash talk a little too seriously.

“If folks are going to take that too seriously, then I’m sorry about that,” Fitzgibbon said.

Still, Fitzgibbon said people in Washington state “have not appreciated” how Arizona has treated immigrants, particularly citing a 2010 immigration law that was subject to a legal challenge from the federal government. He said Arizona leaders need to look at changing laws that he believes amount to racial profiling.

So to sum up, he’s sorry if we were offended that called he us a bunch of racists. Oh, and we’re racists. So there.

But that is NOT be being prejudiced: It’s just that he knows who we are what we believe without meeting us. So shut up. Oh, and Jan Brewer.

An insider’s view on l’affaire du Robertsons.

Rob Long writes TV shows for a living, and he’s good at it. He’s also a conservative, so when he talks about the realities of reality TV, we should listen.

A&E will cave. Some weasel-worded press release will go out, some oddly-constructed sentence about “faith” and “love” and some other stuff is probably right now being sweated and screamed about in the sleek city offices of A&E—you know what I mean, right? Aeron chairs and brightly-colored wall hangings, “fun” conference rooms and Nespresso machines—all because the programmers made a horrible, horrible mistake and put someone interesting on television.

CBS killed off most of their “rural” TV shows at the end of the 60’s. Shows like The Andy Griffith Show, Green Acres and Gunsmoke that were still getting good ratings where gone in a matter of months because CBS wanted to be hip and edgy. The result? ABC introduced “Happy Days”, a silly and sappy take on life in 50’s America that dominated ratings for almost a dozen years.

Read all of Rob’s story, and ask yourself if this isn’t the culture’s elite’s Waterloo Stalingrad, the point where they’ve extended their campaign too far and picked on a enemy that’s just too strong for them.

You had to have known this was going to happen.

It was never a question of “if”, it was only a question of “when.” Phil Robertson, one of the stars of the hugely popular “Duck Dynasty” show on A+E television, has been suspended indefinitely from the show for “anti-gay” remarks he made in an interview with GQ.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus,” Robertson says in the January issue of the men’s magazine. “That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

“We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”

We knew something like this was coming: If wasn’t going to be about homosexuals, it would have been about an ethnic group or other segment of society. You can’t live a life that’s outside of what the coastal cultural mavens consider to be be “cool” and not cross a boundary they consider to be un-crossable.

Is there a Gay Mafia that sets a gay agenda? No, no more than there’s a conservative Christian mafia (although the concept of a Lutheran hit squad has me giggling right now… I digress). There are, however, cultural norms and those norms vary with things other than sexual orientation. Consider how Alec Baldwin (a man who espouses all the right causes for the Hollywood left) was treated for his first homophobic rant versus how Phil Robertson (a man the left abhors) is being treated. Acting the “right way” counts for a lot, not matter what your community is.

Lost in this hullabaloo was the total nothing-burger of Chris Cheng coming out of the closet. Chris was the champion of season four of “Top Shot” on the History Channel and is now a professional marksman for Bass Pro Shops. Maybe there’s more tolerance out there than the people now calling for Phil Robertson’s head are aware of…

Exit Quotations:

“We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em.” – Phil Robertson
“If all our sins were known to each other, the only shocking thing would be our lack of originality.” – Me
“It is a messed up situation when Miley Cyrus gets a laugh, and Phil Robertson gets suspended.” – Bobby Jindal

Well, to be fair, he translated Obama’s speech *perfectly*

How many people on this stage are just blathering on without saying anything meaningful?

south_africa_mandela_interpreter

If you said “One” (Obama), you’d be wrong

“A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela’s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a “fake,” the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday.

The unidentified man seen around the world on television next to leaders including United States President Barack Obama “was moving his hands around but there was no meaning in what he used his hands for,” Bruno Druchen, the federation’s national director, told The Associated Press.”

Deaf people around the world now understand what we’ve had to put with in the U.S. these past five years…

President Narcissus

How self-absorbed do you need to be to take a picture of yourself and two buddies at a funeral for one of the most-respected leaders of the modern era?

presidential-selfie

Unlike other times when Obama inserted himself into the commemoration of other people (or the biographies of other Presidents) this latest example of our President’s fascination with getting a lot of traction in social media, with mentions from ABC News, Politico and Mashable

The world is waking up to the fact we have a petulant man-child as President. Once the leaders of North Korea, Iran and Russia realize this, we’re in big trouble.
