As Arizona Goes, So Goes The Nation

No, this is not a post about SB1070.

Greg Patterson (who is darn close to the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to local politics), points out the obvious: Where is the Democratic bench for 2014? Who is to blame for the decline and fall of the Democrats in Arizona?

Janet Napolitano, that’s who.

By resigning in 2009 and skipping the last two years of her term, she not only allowed the Republicans to erase her legacy, but she also handed the Governor’s office to Jan Brewer. So instead of AG Goddard and SOS Brewer facing off for an open seat with Napolitano providing as much behind the scenes support as possible….Goddard faced an incumbent and had very little financial or logistical support.

Now does ANYONE think that Obama and Organizing for America are going to influence national politics for years years after he’s out of office? Given the endless array of scandals that have broken this year, will the Lightbringer’s flame quickly fade to an ember once he leaves the nation’s bully pulpit?

Follow-up question: How big will the cost overruns be on the Obama Presidential Library when it’s finally built in Nairobi Honolulu Oak Park?

Quislings in the war on women

Former Democratic Governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer resigned from the office in disgrace after it was revealed he cheated on his wife over and over and over again with a prostitute, but now he can totally be trusted to keep New York City’s finances in order. I mean, it’s not like he’s ever lied about using government money to cover up his misdeeds in the past.

Oh, wait

Former Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner resigned from office in disgrace after it was revealed that he sent risqué texts to a number of women. He subsequently announced that he no longer did such things and announced he was running for Mayor of New York, but now he’s not sure just how many salacious texts he’s sent out recently

San Diego’s Democratic Mayor Bob Filner has such a problem with fondling and sexually harassing women that local TV stations are requiring a male videographer accompany any female reporter assigned to interview him. His ally and mentor, Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, refuses to condemn his actions

And finally, “bro choice” activists support the right of women to kill their unborn babies any time during pregnancy, because it makes casual sex a lot easier for them.

But Mitt Romney said binders full of women. That’s the thing that the media focuses on.

50 Mayors have left Bloomberg’s anti-gun group this year

When will Arizona’s mayors follow after their colleagues in other states?

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun control group Mayors Against Illegal Guns is finding it hard to keep its membership up, thanks to dozens of resignations and lost elections over the last few months.

Worse for Bloomberg, who has become one of the faces of the gun control movement: the people replacing his lost comrades aren’t particularly eager to sign up with the organization, a rare group battling in the trenches against the well-organized and deep-pocketed National Rifle Association. Some appear not quite to have signed on for that level of political heat.

That heat won’t happen without your help, Arizona. Call, write or email your local mayor and tell them to leave Michael Bloomberg and his gun grabbing ways.

I would like to revise and extend my previous remarks

Earlier this year, I wrote

If a politician, ANY politician, isn’t comfortable with you taking charge of defending your life, they’re not comfortable with you taking charge of your health care or your retirement or children’s education. If politicians want to be in charge of decided when and how you can keep yourself alive, they’ll want to be in charge of everything else in your life as well.

I’d like to present two arguments that prove me wrong.

Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, “B” rated by the NRA, who never met a government regulation or spending bill he didn’t like, and former Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas, who is strong on gun rights, but this blog invented the term “Huckananny” to describe the rest of his politics.

We regret the error.

Why not treat Detroit like the failed Third World dictatorship it really is?

Let’s do the rundown, shall we?

Single-party rule? Check

Endemic corruption? Check.

Civil unrest and breakdown of public safety? Check.

Massive debt? Check, check and triple check.

Failed attempts to revitalize the economy with massive government infrastructure? Check

So rather than spend more money on yet another massive project to “jumpstart” the Motor City, why not take the things we KNOW work overseas, like appropriate technology and micro-lending* and apply them to the the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is downtown Detroit? After all, charity SHOULD begin at home.

* And before you all jump on me for espousing those “hippie” ideas, take a look at the role that appropriate technology (windmills, water power) and micro loans (saving circles) helped win the American West. “Small is beautiful” works well with personal empowerment.

You’re not paranoid: The Government really IS out to get you

Let’s review:

Angela Corey was the prosecutor in Zimmeran case, who concealed evidence from the defense and has a long and inglorious history of overcharging and using her office as a political weapon.

Lois Lerner was the head of the IRS’s non-profit division, piled regulation and regulation on top of conservative and “Tea Party” groups, lied about it, and then gave a green light to Obama’s brother’s charity in record time.

Eric Holder: Talked about the need to “brainwash” people out of owning guns, and headed the Justice Department during the smuggling operation that sent thousands of guns to Mexico in order to enact tougher gun laws in the U.S.

The Democrats have decided to weaponize the bureaucracy of the federal government and use it against their opponents. It’s our job to disarm them and make sure it can never happen again.

But remember, only the cops should have guns.

Tucson police officer fired and arrested on aggravated assault charges for pointing gun at gas station clerk while off-duty and intoxicated

Well, at least his finger’s off the trigger while threatening that poor guy with his government-supplied gat.

I, for one, am, shocked, SHOCKED at this sort of behaviour from a law enforcement officer in a town that has Clarence Dubnik as a sheriff and SWAT teams that shoot Marines in cold blood

I’m On An Arizonan Radio

Jim Sharpe, James Allen and myself talk about news, politics and culture and stuff, and I make a WILDLY incorrect prediction regarding the Zimmerman trial.

All this, and Star Trek too, over at

The Company You Keep.

It’s not something they like to brag about, but there several Arizona Mayors who belong to Mik “Call Me Ahab” Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAI.

With dozens of mayors listed on their website and the backing of Michael Bloomberg’s billions, you’d think that Arizona politicians would be GLAD to support such an august organization. I wonder what might be holding them back…

Mayors Against Illegal Guns Members In Other States Mayors Against Illegal Guns Members In Arizona

sheila-dixonBaltimore Mayor and Member of MAIG Sheila Dixon resigns as a result of ethics probe into corruption charges. tucson_az_thumbTucson Mayor Jonathon Rothschild

With friends like these, who needs criminals? I wonder how long it’ll be until Stanton, Mitchell et al realize that taking Mayor Bloomberg’s money is supporting criminals, and opposing the rights of Arizonans to defend their lives is the REAL crime that’s going on here.

In a word, no. In two words, HELL, NO!

The nerve of some people. This just came over the transom in my email inbox.

As Senator Lindsey Graham celebrates his 58th birthday today, I hope you’ll help me keep a wonderful tradition going.

You see, for many years now, as part of his birthday celebration, we’ve presented Lindsey with cards and greetings from friends like you – his best supporters and “extended family” – filled with birthday wishes. It’s turned into a wonderful show of support, and this year I’m hoping we can count on you to participate and make it one of Lindsey’s best birthdays ever.

Please follow this link to send your personal birthday message to Lindsey.

In addition to sending your birthday wishes, I hope you’ll also consider sending along a generous contribution of $29, $58, $116, or even $580 to Team Graham to reaffirm that you will steadfastly stand by Lindsey’s side in the months ahead as his opponents go all out to defeat him.

Thanks for taking the time to make this birthday such a great day for Lindsey.

Scott Farmer
Campaign Manager

This is the Lindsey Graham who is the favorite Republican of the Democrats and John McCain (but I repeat myself) ?

No, I will not wish him a “Happy Birthday”, unless said birthday coincides with the day of his retirement from the Senate.
