California screamin’

Poor, poor California. First, they boycott Arizona over SB1070, now they worry about a flood of potential Democratic voters illegal aliens rushing into their state

California has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Arizona’s tough immigration law, saying it would drive illegal immigrants into other states.

I have a simple solution to California’s dilemma: Enforce immigration laws in YOUR state, and the problem goes away by itself.

When mourning becomes pathetic

The mother of Treyvon Martin has filed papers seeking to trademark “I am Treyvon” and “Justice for Treyvon”.  When someone prints up a t-shirt with those slogans on it, she’ll get a cut, and she’ll be able to close down anyone using those phrases without a license.

Does that seem a little… ghoulish to anyone else, or am I just the only one?

Write first, ask questions later.

Treyvon Martin’s death is beginning to sound very similar to the events surrounding the shooting of Gabby Giffords, namely…

1. Pick a law or a person that is popular with the general public but is anethma to the professional left. For the shooting in Tucson, it was Sarah Palin, for the shooting in Florida, it’s Florida’s “stand your ground” law

2. Tie that person or law to a recent tragedy. We now know that Sarah Palin’s map had nothing to do with Jared Loughner’s insanity, and it’s beginning to look like Treyvon was well into the process of committing assualt with intent when he was killed and Florida’s “No duty to scurry and hide” laws have nothing to do with this incident.

3. When that fails, go large. It wasn’t JUST Sarah Palin that was the problem, it was “incivility” (aka not agreeing with the professional left), and it’s not just ONE person of colour (George Zimmerman is Hispanic) shooting another, it’s a racially-motivated white person shooting a black person whilst hurling racially epithets.

And then when it turns out to be none of those things, ignore the new facts and move on to something else.

Never let the facts get in the way of a good narrative.

Calm calm calm, calm calm Iran

There’s an old adage in politics, courtesy of that O.G. progressive Theodore Roosevelt: “Speak softly, and carry a big stick.”

Obama seems to have confused that somewhat with his policy towards a nuclear-armed Iran.

… on May 18, 2009, President Obama was asked about Iran and any deadlines for his “policy of engagement.” He responded: “You know, I don’t want to set an artificial deadline … We should have a fairly good sense by the end of the year as to whether they are moving in the right direction.”

On September 15, 2009, a deadline issued by President Obama for Iran to come to the nuclear negotiating table was ignored by Iran’s Mullahs.

On October 11, 2009, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, “The international community will not wait indefinitely for evidence that Iran is willing to live up to its international commitments.”

On October 23, 2009, an Obama-backed UN deadline for Iran to begin drawing down its nuclear stockpile was ignored by Iran’s Mullahs.

On November 29, 2009, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said, “Time is running out for Iran to address the international community’s growing concerns about its nuclear program.”

On December 31, 2009, President Obama’s deadline for Iran to respond to his diplomatic outreach was ignored by Iran’s Mullahs.

On January 31, 2010, President Obama’s new deadline of the end of the month was ignored by Iran’s Mullahs.

On May 25,2011, Hillary Clinton stated: “Time is running out for Iran to address the world’s concerns over its nuclear intentions.”

On March 1, 2012, a bill signed by President Obama that required his administration “to begin enforcing new financial penalties on foreign firms that do business with Iran passed… with no fresh action from Washington.”

On March 6, 2012, Obama said: “To resolve this issue will require Iran to come to the table and discuss in a clear and forthright way how to prove to the international community that the intentions of their nuclear program are peaceful. … They know how to do it, and the question is going to be whether in these discussions they show themselves moving clearly in that direction.”

Yep, one more sharply-worded memo, and the Mullahs are SURE to fall.

…Short of It.

The long and…short of it is Dennis Kucinich won’t get to represent his district anymore.

The good news is that he gets to spend more time with his wife.

With Barney Frank leaving and Kucinich gone, Congress will be rid of two nutty leftists.  While that is Change I Can Believe In™ their absence means less fodder for bloggers.  Oh well, life isn’t fair.

When is religion important in a child abuse scandal?

In the case of the Catholic church, it’s important to lead the story with those details.

In the case of Muslims beating up a 19 year old girl for not going along with an arranged marriage, it’s of no importance whatsoever

Phoenix mother suspected of beating her 19-year-old daughter for not going along with an arranged marriage pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated assault, unlawful imprisonment and resisting arrest. Maricopa County Superior Court says 50-year-old Yusra Farhan entered the plea Monday.

Police say Farhan allegedly burned her older daughter on the face and chest with a hot spoon.

Two others, 18-year-old Tabarak Altameemi and 45-year-old Mohammed Altameemi, also pleaded not guilty to assault and unlawful imprisonment.

It’s not like this hasn’t happened in the past in Arizona, much less in the rest of the United States.

When will our media treat all religions equally?

Ted Nugent Endorses Romney

This should help Mittens with Second Amendment voters

Nugent, a noted gun enthusiast and member of the National Rifle Association board, had been without a candidate in the GOP presidential race. He wrote a column last year that he was “wango-tango-giddy” for a race between President Obama and Rick Perry, but the Texas governor dropped out before the South Carolina primary.

And as Sebastian noted, Mitt ain’t quite as bad on gun rights as people think he is. He ain’t Rick Perry, but he’s definitely not Obama, either.

And the ammo for it also, please.

  1. The Obama Administration considers health care to be an individual right.
  2. They believe it is the government’s duty to take money from all of us to allow others to enjoy that right as those others see fit, whether we like it or not.
  3. The Second Amendment is a specifically enumerated right in the Constitution.
  4. Therefore, it is government’s duty to take money from all of you so I can exercise my Second Amendment rights as I see fit.

This will do just nicely.

Common Sense about College Campus Safety

Great Satan Inc. reminds us that the anti-gun crowd is ready and willing to deny the right of self-defense to adults on college campuses throughout Arizona.

“Common sense”? They want common sense? Ok, you got it.

  • Is it “common sense” that adults over the age of 21 are denied the fundamental right of self-defense on publicly-owned areas like college campuses?
  • Is it “common sense” that a 21 year old who can fight and die for our country in the military cannot protect himself and others in a college classroom?
  • Is it “common sense” to believe that a posted “No Guns” sign is a an effective deterrent to keeping guns off college campuses? If this is the case, the DPS doesn’t need radar guns, because no one ever should break the posted speed limit.
  • Is it “common sense” to believe that a seven minute response time to an active shooter on campus is prefereable to the two seconds it takes an armed citizen to draw and stop an attacker?

Common sense gun laws are quite easy to define. They’re so easy, it was done over two hundred years ago.

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

We just need to live up to these words and we’ll have the common sense gun laws we’re looking for.

Call or email your state Senator or Representative today and remind them that disarming people only leads to more victims.

Enough is enough. It’s just common sense!

Why the TSA is nothing but security theater

From somebody who knows a thing or fifteen about counterterrorism and security.

Trust me, if TSA had ever foiled a terrorist plot, they would buy full-page ads in every newspaper in the United States to prove their importance and increase their budget.

I have a unique position from which to make these statements. For 25 years, as many of readers know, I was an FBI Special Agent, and for many of those years, I was a counter-terrorism specialist. I ran the Los Angeles Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) Al Qaeda squad. I ran the JTTF’s Extra-territorial squad, which responded to terrorism against the United States or its interests throughout the world.

Read, as they say, the whole thing
