If that's what Obama considers "safe", I'd hate to see his idea of a dangerous border.
The "moat" isn't full of alligators, it's full of sharks, and Obama has sailed across it.

When we were on our way to Ensenada last Spring, we were approached by the Border Patrol outside of Tecate and told that it was dangerous to stop by the side of the road. Overhead, a 500-series chopper was flying around. Oh, this was during the day too as we tried to get our caravan of four vehicles across the border together.
Twenty km down the road, the Mexican Army was searching all vehicles coming and going down Federal Highway 3. Oh, they were armed with MAG-58s, G-33s, and other military weapons.
...but there are no problems and the border is secure.
