Why does this matter? A commenter at Riehl World View says it best:
The birth question is a political IQ test. It would be hard to devise a more perfect trap. The moment you embrace the issue, the media will ask you nothing else. You'll have no sane-sounding response, because you must somehow prove that a 50-year-old piece of paper doesn't exist, which is impossible. Even if you did find proof, the only remedy would be impeachment, which you wouldn't have the votes to get. And if by some miracle you actually could impeach Obama, the grand prize is President Biden.
The whole thing misses the point. Obama isn't wrong because of where's he from.
Leaders come and go. It's the statist ideology that needs defeating.
In other words, fight the ideas, not the people.
Update: Erick Erickson reports that Congressman Hayworth "... said definitely that Barack Obama is the President of the United States and meets all the legal and constitutional requirements to be President."
Well, good. And if J.D. had said that up front, he would have saved himself a whole lot of trouble.

JD is smart but he has lost the plot over the last few years. He used to be funny but is more angry than funny these days. Too bad, he is a very engaging person and is VERY sharp. Spend any time with him face to face and you know he has an active mind.
That said, you can't step in a cowpie like the birth certificate issue and not begin to stink. Leave that to journalists and others to figure out. Zero is President and regardless of how he got there (foreign money, vote fraud, MSM running interference, Chicago Way, etc.) we have to deal with it. The birthers are falling for a magician's trick, they are being distracted instead of being focused.
Ideas are what matter and Zero is on the wrong side. This is becoming evident as reality is giving him and his supporters a hard smack-down. Take down the ideas that form the foundation on which Zero and his Teleprompter stand on and propose better ones. This is not only do-able, it is necessary. The Democrat party is the party of identity politics, Big Labor, Trial Lawyers, and one size fits all bureaucratic groupthink. The GOP can stand as an alternative and win by embracing classical American values of limited (Constitutional) government, individual liberty, sound fiscal and monetary policy, thoughtful foreign policy, and promoting innovation.
Ideas are transcendent and will be around long after Zero goes back to Hawaii...
